Imposter syndrome 🦸🏽‍♀️

May 25, 2023

I wrote about imposter syndrome a couple years ago but over the years I've reframed my opinions about this "phenomenon".

This idea of imposter syndrome like many other conditions created were rooted in misogyny. These spaces, environments, systems -- they weren't made for us (women and PoC). They literally weren't designed for us to be in.

So you know that familiar feeling? That one where you feel like an outsider, uncomfortable, and believe you're inadequate? I know, it's a terrible feeling, but a natural one especially when you're participating in systems that aren't welcome to you.

Please remember -- you are not the problem. You are the change. You are what's needed.

I can spend time writing more about this topic but Reshma Saujani said it best:

"Imposter syndrome is the result of structural inequality, not individual inadequacy."
